I think the no food rule on the beach still applies? Not sure if alcohol does as well.
Make do and enjoy your trip. I'd love to be on Isla for about 10 days right now. The place we stay at has a private beach so it may be a little more relaxed. I just have to figure out when we can get down there.
Even with COVID-19 rules in place it's still paradise.

stayed on Isla for 7 days at a Boutique hotel and the end of July beginning of August.
The same rules applied then. We wore our mask out but it was fine. The north beach is closed but all of the private beach clubs where open. Although not the best circumstances the trip still might go down as one of my favorites.
We swam with the Whale Sharks but I think that season might be ending.
Mikes pizza has frozen mugs and cheapest beer on the island for a restaurant.
La Palapa Del Captain is an awesome little spot at end of a cul-de-sac. Great food and drinks with a great price. The family actually lives there.
Best Michelada on the island is at Resto Del Mundo. Its a father and his two sons working there.
I forgot the beach clubs names but they are all pretty much the same. You pay no cover but have to eat and drink there. Some have a beach and pool areas.
Oh, How could I forget The Joint. Awesome Frozen Mojito.
Ill check back on this thread and post the beach club names.
I'm guessing you have never been??? you rent golf carts and drive around island..just fYi
