I'm not very hairy at all but occasionally I'll wake up and look in the mirror and there's a 1.5“ hair growing off of the side of my ear that wasn't there yesterday. I've been thinking of pointing a GoPro at me while I sleep.

Same here. I notice a long hair and I'm like how did that grow so fast because I know that shite wasn't there yesterday.

My theory is it's an ingrown hair that's like a coiled spring until it finally gains enough force to break through the surface.
