I posted this in another thread but will post again. I'm done with mask. I'll wear them where I'm required, but I can't continue to do this much longer:
I had an informal meet up with with a girl on a Thursday night that I had met online. Talk about made the entire thing awkward. Walk in, I forgot my mask but apparently no one else did and I was stared at like I had 3 heads. Get up to order our food, have to put the mask on so we can’t really talk to each other which made the entire first 5 minutes or so awkward and I never recovered. Went to the soda machine and forgot to put my mask on, realized it as soon as I was at the machine and I may as well been wearing one shoe. It just sucked. Maybe the mask had nothing to do with it but I felt it did because I feel like an idiot wearing one and that doesn’t help the confidence required on a first date Bumble hookup experience.
You never know how the other person feels about it, which is just an entire new 'consideration' when interacting with a person. Do I put my mask on to give her an welcome hug? No? I feel like an absolute retard when I'm wearing my mask and I work from home so I don't get out enough for it to be second nature to me yet. I have to be constantly thinking about when/where/what if.
I hate it. I hung out with a group of airplane mechanics yesterday and we were in close quarters doing inventory of some delivered parts to the museum. No one even thought or mentioned a mask. Sitting in the cockpit of a WWII era bomber, didn't even think of wearing a mask. BUt yet, the night before, I'm in Torchy Tacos across from a girl I don't know and have no idea how to act.
I hate it. Like I said, I'll ut it on when required but give me Covid or give me death.
