I think it's hilarous this NLU guy keeps talking about the beatdowns NLU put on Tech in the 1980s
The original thread was how Tech could have beat LSU in the 70s,80s,90s, if they got their asses handed to them by NLU then how could they have beaten LSU!!!!!

The 1980s were such a big deal

NLU went 8-2 against Tech in the eighties!
That's why Tech is afraid of them!

I'm glad that NLU thinks Tech is afraid of them because nobody else seems to be. (Maybe Saban)

But at least NLU fans know their place on the food chain and Tech fans think they are comparable to LSU

You mean the throngs of tech fans couldn't drive 30 miles to attend? That attendance count doesn't speak well of either team's fan base.

I made the trip. Half the crowd was Tech fans. The myth that this game would be a sell-out year in and year out is just pure bull.

I don't think that La Tech fans actually think they can compete.

But Grambling/ULM was close to a sellout!

The old GSC

and the Southland Conference was even better
NLU
Tech
North Texas
UT Arlington
Lamar
ASU

they were all pretty close and there were some rivalries.

and a high percentage of those fans were from Grambling...

I'm not totally opposed to playing ULM, but a LONG term deal is not the way to go. The interest wears off quickly. The series could've been resumed, but ULM insisted on having the first game at their place. The last game was at their place. I don't see Dooley resuming the series.

Don't tell me that NSU is going to join the arguement. Sign them up for the Southland or old GSC as well.

UT Arlington quit playing football a long time ago and I don't know what happened to Lamar, but the one thing the rest have in common is they schedule games they plan to lose and no one knows what conference they play in.

Which is a high percentage for a home game against an FCS team. It's great for ULM, but if I were Grambling, I'd have to wonder what I'm getting out of it when my fans are buying 15K tickets...better be a nice pay-out.

It makes more sense. It would be competitive. Doesn't make since that La Tech do all that traveling west.

The point is it was a great atmosphere for football, it beat the hell out of playing Florida International in front of 10k. I usually spend my time at Tiger stadium but I do go to area games when LSU is not playing yes I have even gone to a Tech game! I just think you would have better crowds and a better atmosphere if you played a rival game once a year, and like it or not NLU/ULM and Tech are rivals!!!!!!

Even the state fair game was a good series between Tech and Northwestern.
