Does this not also go for Jrue?

I'm just out on Lonzo. I don't think he's ever going to be more than an 3 and D guard, which would be fine if his likely price would be cheaper or his defense were better.

I've said before I can see Jrue being the Pels Lowry or DeRozan. If there's a good deal out there send him out. If there isn't, let him be the #3 to Zion and Ingram until the right opportunity comes along.

Jrue is getting older, but his offense is built on change of pace, not speed, and his defense is built on instinct and reputation. He bumps guys a lot when he "beats" them to the spot, but he doesn't get called because I guess he knows the angles/officiating. So I can see him keep roughly this same level of productivity even as he approaches 35 during his extension.

My issue with Jrue is I don’t see how we get that third piece while paying him 25+ mil, unless you’re signing him to just trade him in the future.

I also don’t want to pay Lonzo more than ~15 mil per year (give or take 1-2), and like you I think his place in this league is also a 3 and D guard, but he does give something on top of that with his transition facilitation. I think he could be a really good role player for this team if he would embrace that role.
