Friend,
quote:

2 Timothy 4:7-8

New International Version

7 I have fought the good fight,(A) I have finished the race,(B) I have kept the faith. 8 Now there is in store for me(C) the crown of righteousness,(D) which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will award to me on that day(E)—and not only to me, but also to all who have longed for his appearing.(F)

The Apostle Paul was in prison awaiting execution when he wrote this. He knew his earthly journey was near its end, and he had given it his all. May each of us endeavour to live in that manner.

Friend,

I always took it to mean struggling to live a virtuous life, as exampled in the life of Jesus, who was fully human and fully God and entirely free and free of sin, in a fallen world where temptation is constantly knocking at your door.

Yours,
TulaneLSU

I'm asking for more personalized definitions from the OT'ers as a whole. I don't give a damn what google's frick stick algorithm tells me.

Oh, so you don't really want to know then. Just looking for some of that virtue signaling stuff you guys talk about.

The Iona College Motto is "Certa Bonum Certamen", Latin for "Fight the Good Fight."

I always thought that it meant that I should do my best everyday; take care of the weaker or less fortunate; and live a life that honors my God, my country, my family, and myself. I often considered it in a somewhat romantic way as in a stanza of "The Impossible Dream" from "Man of Lamancha":

To fight for the right
Without question or pause,
To be willing to march into hell
For a heavenly cause!

In today's parlance I suppose it would mean - I should do my best to help another human being; love God; and try not to be a dick.
