Depends on what you mean. Most fertilization events end in abortion already, with between 15% to 25% of all pregnancies ending in spontaneous abortion, and the number is probably much higher (maybe even 50%) due to the woman not knowing she was pregnant. I would also suggest that the issues that make pregnancy an even more high-risk event for women have to do with poor health outcomes in general, of which we have many in the US, across all demographics and age groups. We could do better to make pregnancy, which is already a high-risk event, less high-risk, but any top down instruction is received poorly in the US.

It means what I said. A woman comes into the ED at 20 weeks with a BP of 210/120. The fetus is not viable out of the womb and medications failed. The mother has two choices, abort the pregnancy or die. I believe in those situations that a decision to abort the pregnancy should not lead to arrest of a physician or the mother. Apparently some people here disagree.
