Who is possibly advising anyone that any of this MIGHT at the end of the day make any sort of economic sense for any municipality? That's what I don't get.
There's this weird sort of conventional wisdom line that it's all to get "federal dollars," but what's the indication that any particular amount of those would possibly be tied and/or correlated to the more ridiculous draconian shutdown measures you have implemented on businesses?
It's all so fricking sad, is what it is.

Thats what I keep wondering. So lets say New Orleans gets $50 million from the Feds...is that money going to be disbursed to every business who lost money (like the supposed BP settlement)? Or is it going to be used to repair things damaged by COVID (like post Katrina) - even though there aren't any actual physical damages...
Would love to see feds say "Fine cities who want to stay shut down, we will give you $100 million to fund the infrastructure project of your choice, but you have to open everything back up no restrictions."
