Why not? Appreciation for the service, particularly when restaurants are struggling? Maybe it's a regular spot, and you do it for goodwill?

People that say this right now with all that is going on for restaurants and their workers is a giant douchebag. Stay home and cook your food yourself.

I've worked in a dozen or so restaurants in my day, either as a server or bartender. Everything from Chili's to Fine dining and I can tell you this; the person working takeout works their tail off if they're good at what they do.

This is where I stand as well. I'm not getting any service from someone other than ringing me up. The kitchen staff who is not paid by tips plates it directly into the take out dishes. The server does nothing but carry it to the register and take my card. I'm not tipping that.

I tip dine in around 20% usually.
