Personally, I side with Hank Hill. Don’t be a Bobby.

Randy Travis is criminally underrated in country music. Was and continues to be hands down my favorite artist.

Country. Gospel. Man has it all.

He has 23 number one country hits and was a big star in the 80s. He was credited of bringing back traditional country music when it was rejected for a more of a pop sound.

Several labels rejected him because he was,"Too Country."

My favorite Randy Travis story.

In 1988, his album Old 8 x 10 gets released and flies up the country album charts because he was the thing in country music at the time. It sells so well it shows up on the Billboard pop charts as well (because it is one of the best selling albums in the country).

As Randy told it in his biography...

“I was shocked to discover that my new album was #5 on Billboard’s Top 100 pop charts. The folks at Warner were celebrating, but I was irate. ‘Pop charts? What’s it doing on there? Get it off there,’ I said sternly. ‘I’m not a pop singer! I’m a country singer.’"
