6 years as an assistant is actually a pretty long time. There are plenty of guys that have been hired with less.

6 years is not a long time when you have no prior relevant experience.
The only guys that have been hired with less are guys that actually played in the NBA for over a decade. Her WNBA experience isn't relevant experience.

Would anyone give Dan Craig a look if all he had was 6 years experience, with the majority of it not sitting behind the bench? The answer is hell no, b/c like Hammon, he has no prior relevant experience as a player, and 6 years as an assistant, not even a 2nd or 3rd lead assistant for most of it, isn't a resume that should be considered for a head coaching position.

We have mentioned many assistants here, and all of them have a ton of more experience than Hammon, yet you idiots want to keep bringing her up b/c she's a her.
Will Hardy has been with the spurs for 10 years, longer than her. Why not mention him? He's been the summer league coach for the spurs for 3 years if that means anything, and all of those 3 years were when Hammon was on staff. What does that tell you?
Chip Engelland has been there 15 years. Why not mention him?
You could make a case that Tim Duncan's resume is better than Hammon's at this time, and it'll certainly be better in a a few years.

Tone it down.

Well, this thread isn't about Will Hardy, but I consider him to be the lead assistant in SAS. The reason why I don't think he will be the next HC is because of Pop's progressive tendencies, I think he wants to be known for making Hammon the first woman HC.

I guess because I've never heard anyone mention him for a job ever.

I've heard a lot of people say they don't even know of Duncan will be back next year, that he really doesn't want to Coach long term.

Hammon isn't even on my personal short list, so relax.

don’t hurt yourself with those mental gymnastics. Nash is cool with his zero experience but apparently woman’s basketball provides zero substantive experience for men’s basketball.

Weird how the stuff you use in coaching men’s basketball pretty easily translates when coaching a girls team.

Weird also how Derick Fisher went over to the WNBA and got to the semifinals his first season and tied for the second best record this season. Almost like experience does in fact translate across leagues.
