Yeah, Robert Duvall's presence was definitely sorely missed in the third film.

The Godfather Part III contains two of the top 100 frick ups in cinematic history: Not giving Duvall equal billing to Pacino (I think it was a fair request) thus resulting from him not being in GF Part III and casting Sophia Coppola as Mary Corleone (although she would later become a fantastic filmmaker in her own right).
