Perspective from Hester & Hanny

I know, I know.. new and refreshing topic.
Hanny made a good point. All of the players so far who have opted out can be explained (whether you agree with their decision or not). He suggested that IF there are any more, then it would be time to ask questions.
Chase - No brainer; nothing left to prove
Shelvin - Taking the entire year to work out and prepare
Vincent - Was 50/50 on coming back to begin with
Farrell - Family history with COVID
Thomas - Off the field issues; read between the lines

Haven't we heard Kardell and Bradford were considering it for a while now?

I haven't heard Kardell but I did see Bradford thrown around. Bradford would be a surprise to me. Dude is a freshman and should be looking to get any touches he can get from that crowded RB room. Kardell has always been all-in on tweeting and retweeting questionable things about O.. whether there's anything to read into that, who knows.
I could be wrong, but I find it hard to believe that Deculus, JaCoby, and Myles are all considering it. They are all pictured in that photo of Ryan Clark speaking. Whether that's good or bad I dunno
I hope that the meeting is helping to clear the air. They need to just have everyone in one room shout it out and then make up.

Making a blanket statement like this is dumb.

Anthony Bradford - OG
It was floated a few weeks ago that both backup OGs could opt out.

plus his weight makes him high risk, if the recent outbreak with the offensive line made Chase pause, I can see Shelvin having more pressing conerns

Well O admitted there are a couple of others considering it. Should we ask questions now?

It is, what it is. These are the athletes' decisions.
Not much different than deciding to go pro early or picking a school during their high school recruitment.
There will be "outsiders"and family giving them advice and all the coaches can do is give the kids the pros and cons ethically.
You play with the guys who dress up each day. Dont blame anyone.

I feel like the 90s were so awful for us that LSU fans still know how bad things can get if we're not careful. And thats even more dramatic now because we've gone from a "Very Good" program to "Tier 1 Diamond Class", we have even more to lose now, the fall would be from higher up.
we're on unfamiliar ground here and we're nervous it isn't stable.
I think we're good fwiw (assuming we dont have another Katrina or two that drives people out of state and guts our recruiting base)

all though i agree with the statement i dont agree with this being the norm from here on out with guys like this

Shelvin - Taking the entire year to work out and prepare
you mean he will get better workout and preparation for in game experience for the nfl somewhere else than he would at LSU ??? give me a break

We’ll see. I find it difficult to believe that a guy who struggled controlling his weight with all the support he has within the program is going to “take the entire year to workout”. Time will tell. Best of luck to the big fella but he better show up in the best shape of his life. I just think they are safer in the program than not.

I just think that those who want to opt out need to just do it and stop taking practice reps from guys who want to play.

If I'm a 20 year old who has a very strong chance of being a first or second round draft pick in the NFL, why risk injury in a season that is rife with 2 of the 5 power conferences opting out, risking infection and thus risking a career? This has way more to do with the money than the social unrest. These are crazy times!
