It's only about 50 seconds long but includes shots of Gillian Anderson as Margaret Thatcher and Emma Corrin as Diana Spencer. Season four drops on November 15.

I wonder how far this season will go. I would assume at least until the late 1980s

I've been wrong for literally every season, but it might make sense to go to 1992 and end with the "Annus Horribilis" Speech. It depends a lot on where they plan on ending season 6, though.

Good guess. Goes until the early 90s with the decision to divorce.

The EW article had this:
quote:
It is expected that season 4 will cover the late '70s and early '80s.
So Season 3 covered 1964-1977.
The last clip you see of Diana in the trailer is the wedding and that was 1981. The first clip of the Queen is likely the Trooping of the Colour from 1981 as well (about six weeks before the wedding) and carries significance.

Some spoilery things if you don't really follow modern British monarchy history in the 70s and 80s:
- Princess Margaret divorces Tony in 1978.
- Lord Mountbatten and his family are assassinated by the IRA in 1979. Shortly after, scandal hits because Princess Margaret allegedly called the Irish "pigs".
- During the 1981 Trooping the Colour ceremony she was fired upon as she was riding through London.
- 1982, Michael Fagan breaks into Buckingham Palace and the Queen awakens to him in the room with her.
- Princess Margaret has part of her lung removed in 1985 due to her heavy smoking and drinking (she ends up in poor health for basically the rest of her life).
- Prince Andrew marries Fergie in 1986. They separated in 1992.
I don't know if they go all the way to 1992 this season because Diana dies in 1997 and she's supposedly going to be in the last two seasons (5 and 6) as well. They've got a lot of content to cover in the 70s and 80s that could make for some REALLY good TV.

Yeah I could see this season going up until the mid 80s and then the next season going at least through the divorces.

I would imagine they'd want to show how Margaret and the Queen Mother's deaths so close together affected the Queen. Those were in 2002 I believe, so I wonder if the last season will go that far.
