Yes and no. I have a CPA and still have these issues and they help with some but I still have to usually get involved.
OP, I've had an underpayment before that I received in say October. I mailed the check by Nov 1, then in December I got another letter saying I have the same underpayment with additional interest. I called the IRS and they said my I no longer had a balance.
As said, its likely an error and easy to clear.
