The original issue with the Big 12 was Texas getting preferential treatment.
Right. And I’m sure part of the reason they’re beefing with the Big 10 is because they don’t have the same voice as the original members, specifically Ohio State and Michigan. But aren’t they losing a ton of leverage with the Big 12 if they have to come back begging with hat in hand? If the same conference leadership is in place, their voice may be even less heard than before they initially left.
That would be the wrong move, however. Of all the P5s, and despite what happened yesterday and the Big 10’s and PAC 12’s lack of recent success in the BCS and CFBP, if Super Conferences are ever gonna happen, the Big 12 will be the 1st to dissolve. Any time it’s ever been discussed and mock conferences hypothetically created, it’s always either Texas and OU (and their respective state schools with them) to the PAC 12 or SEC and schools like Kansas, Kansas State, and Iowa State left holding the bag alone, desperately scurrying to find a chair.

Not anymore. Stuart Mandel has been writing about this. It's the Pac 12 that's going to fall apart with several big members potentially going to the Big 12.
