I wouldn’t think it’s much different than other places. Cashiers aren’t stopping theft, and are actually most likely trained not to intervene anyways. Shrink is cheaper than worker’s compensation or a lawsuit.

But if you do a membership based system where it’s tied to a preauthorized bank account or card, it would work great.

Seriously? That’s dumb as shite.

We’d have to close a lot of things if we’re going to call it discriminatory against “bankless people.” Plus, it’s 2020, and prepaid cards have existed for over a decade. That isn’t even a valid complaint when there are easy ways to transfer cash into an electronic payment option.
