If I remember correctly, he successfully completed the pass/pitch/shuttle pass to save a play in the gt game that became the famous fumble play against Alabama in the NC.

Miles destroyed QBs while at LSU
LOL, You're just being nice, Miles destroyed offense while at LSU.
2005-2007, Miles had a far more aggressive offense than Saban's teams (outside the Rohan Davey team). We'd just finished carving up and beating down Ohio State for a BCS title to close out 2007.
2008 was supposed to be Perilloux, but he got tossed and Lee wasn't ready, to say it nicely. We lost games because of the offense totally blowing shite up in our faces.
This bowl game was supposed to be a beatdown by Ga Tech. They beat UGA 45-42 about a month before and ranked 14, same UGA team we lost 52-38 at home to. The margin of defeat- 2 TDs; Lee threw 2 pick 6's that game.
Miles sent JJ out there with specific orders to not do anything that would risk a turnover, and give the rest of the team a chance. Like someone said, 10-10 passing for 22 yds, that's 2 yds a completion.
So we played a 14th ranked, favored team, and we played solely on physical talent- defense and running the ball. And we kicked their fricking teeth in, 38-3.
From that point forward (with a brief respite under Mettenberger), Miles did as much as he could to keep from throwing games away on offensive mistakes, and relied on physical talent to beat the opponent.
And objectively, it did work- 9-4 in 2009, 11-2 in 2010, 13-1 in 2011 etc.
It didn't work against Alabama, because they matched up (and eventually surpassed us) on talent. But that's the ONLY team in CFB that applied to. Other teams that were supposed to pass us by, like Spurrier's SC team with Clowney and Lattimore, or A&M with Manziel, we still matched up and beat them playing conservative ball.
Not saying it was the right move, because it did ultimately kill our national title hopes. But looking at 2008, you can clearly see the reason why it happened.
