Grant violated the Geneva Convention
The United States was not a signatory of the Geneva Convention until 1949 and the Geneva Convention of 1864 only dealt with sick and wounded soldiers on the battlefield.

You realize other countries only invaded France at the end of Napoleon’s reign, right?

Where was Napoleon’s most famous victory in France?
Toulon.

I seem to recall Napoleon taking that Grand Armee on a lot of marches and only fighting on the homefront on a couple of campaigns.
Ok. Not sure what point you're trying to make. The fact is that Napoleon had war declared on him far more than he declared war on others. There were numerous collations formed to overthrow the Revolutionary government and then his Imperial admin.

This statement is correct.
A guy on the first page indicated France had to constantly fight off invaders during Napoleon’s reign, which is verifiably incorrect.

Tell me when mainland France was invaded during Napoleon’s reign.

Having war declared on you =/= invasion

The Geneva Convention didn't exist at the time, and Grant was the first to conceive and implement a total war strategy.

Grant won because of the sheer number of soldiers.
No he didn't. He won battles over three theaters, made innovations regarding waging war year-round and the tempo of operations, and was the first to understand that the war would be fought differently from previous wars, and he sought a new way of combining tactical, strategic and operational elements to produce results on the battlefield.

So you're just hung up on his description of "invaders" I guess.

And how many nation coalitions had declared war on him at that point?

He was impressive in the Western Theater but again he defeated the Army of Virginia by having a larger well equipped army

1813, 1814.

This has nothing to do with what you said on the first page, which is:
quote:

Again, declaring war against the French empire does not always amount to invasion of mainland France, which was clearly the subject of your first statement.

Correct - the end of Napoleon’s reign. My issue is with the guy on the first page who insinuated Napoleonic France was invaded for a decade. That’s just not true. Sure, France has war declared on her all the time, but France was invaded just twice during Napoleon’s reign, and both of those times were at its conclusion.

He had less numbers in several battles. He did however do a better job at moving and strategically concentrating of troops due to his corps system.

Napoleon often moved his troops at breakneck speed in his earlier days. Stonewall Jackson was famous for rapid troop movement too.
