True, but the vast majority of the nutrients are in the skin, which most people throw away. The “meat” of the potato is mostly starch and water.

I’d just as soon have an extra helping of broccoli or green beans, which provide far more nutrition per calorie than spuds. To each his own.

I get that but potatoes still provide a very lower calorie fiber while quenching your hunger and this is in the "meat" along with potassium. I always eat the skin I get others don't. Sweet potatoes along with red potatoes are still very nutritious.A good
article about how they've been "mislabeled" over the years.
