That's probably what got him the job.
Remember the Faculty Senate's rebellion against Lowder in the mid-oughts? About once a decade or so, the faculty gets the itch to storm the barricades and strike a blow for the Proletariat. It's why they were so PO'd when Lowder replied "You don't let the inmates run the asylum".

Good point. In the late 90s, it was the war between Lowder and the Plainsman editor(s) that nearly resulted in the journalism school going bye bye. Lowder was their favorite boogeyman for a good long time, some earned and some not.
