Klatt’s argument is based upon his belief that the “best 4 “ are getting into the current playoff pool. Alabama, Florida and Auburn were better than Oklahoma. Wisconsin and Minnesota were as good or better than Oklahoma. If you pick the best 8 teams, regardless of how many come from one conference then it would be a great playoff. It you limit it to conf champs, then you will have blowouts in half of the games.

Not sure why the 6 team format is so hard for a lot of people to swallow. Every time I see it brought up, most scoff at it as much as they do with 8 teams. 6 teams would definitely separate the chaff from the wheat before they face the actual top teams.
