Good news for the Saints:
Deuce McAllister's magnetic resonance imaging test revealed no structural damage in the joint, and the veteran running back could practice on a limited basis during the team's workout at 4:20 p.m. today.
McAllister missed the Saints' morning workout because of swelling in his left knee, which was surgically repaired after he tore the anterior cruciate ligament in the joint in Game 3 last season.
Saints Coach Sean Payton said McAllister experienced swelling in the knee after Friday's workout and trainers drained excess fluid from the joint to relieve the discomfort and improve its range of motion.
McAllister underwent the MRI as a precautionary measure.

thats good news - I remember in 2006 his knee had to be drained, etc.
I hope if he really needs/wants to play that it will work out. Personally, if I had his career earnings I think I'd have hung them up this time.

I still think it shows that it will be a longer road back than first thought. Seems folks were very optimistic that he would be full speed. Hope he can be, but no need to rush him.
That said, they need some insurance.

All Hail Duece! Limit his practices.

Great News.
From a strategic standpoint, the Saints ought to mainly use Deuce this year as follows:
A. When they're having trouble establishing the run with any other back.
B. In the 4th quarter when they have a lead to put away the opponent.
C. Fewer reps 1st half of the season, more the 2nd half of the season, which gives him more time to heal and be fresh for a playoff run.

Agreed with limiting him in the first half of the year if things are going well. Duce is the man, you gotta respect and love that guy for what's he's done for the Saints.
We're pulling for you Duce.

Duce needs to retire and preserve his health for life after football.

The fact that his knee was swollen and had to be drained which then prompted an MRI cannot be seen as good news no matter what the MRI result was

According to the New Orleans Times-Picayune, RB Pierre Thomas has gained the confidence of the staff that he can carry the load if needed. He continues to fly under the radar despite our best efforts to promote him as an intriguing sleeper. The paper also suggests that Thomas' progress might be the reason the team hasn't sought a veteran free agent as insurance. With Deuce McAllister doubtful to remain healthy all season, Thomas could find himself with some sizable fantasy value.Source: New Orleans Times-PicayuneRelated: Deuce McAllister, Reggie Bush
