Because of Private Prisons and Pharmaceutical Companies. They like making money and buying legislators.

IF it was all about the money, then the money from selling pot would put those two to shame. It'd be bigger than ciggarettes for taxes and private companies too.

This is a complete myth.

First, Private prisons make up a minuscule number of the total prison population.

Second, if any drugs are legalized, the pharmaceutical companies are in the best position to capitalize since they are already established in the FDA pipeline.

No, the ones really pushing to keep marijuana and other drugs illegal are the churches and police unions.

Add Federal, State, and Municipal police departments, Corrections Officer unions, food service and garment cleaning industries with fat prison contracts.

Millions of Americans profit off the increasing incarceration of their fellow citizens. It's fricking sickening.

Notice the only thing that is now legal in La is only dispensed at a few pharmacies in the state and the grower AND middle man is the state gov itself.
