Difficulty of putting Epoxy on concrete floors?

My wife is wanting to an epoxy finish on our concrete floors in our new kitchen. I was concerned about the difficulty of doing this ourselves. Is it a pretty easy process? Is there a good chance that we will mess this up when we are mixing up the chemicals?

Epoxy on concrete is notoriously inconsistent, particularly new concrete OR old concrete that has had spills of oils or other contaminants. I would acid stain it a color that your wife likes and then use a sealer like Everclear which is easy to re-coat/repair.

be sure you are out of the house for a week or so afterward. that stuff is toxic and takes a long time to fully offgas.

This.
But if you're dead set on epoxy, they make some that has a marbling effect that can hide discoloration.
Plus, like the other poster said, stay off it for at least a week, even if the manufacturer says sooner. If you scratch it while it's still curing, that area will peel within the next few months.

This would be on new concrete. We are building a shop that will have a kitchen in it. She wants to do this for the kitchen floors.

It is easy as can be, just clean repeatedly and use an acid wash prior to putting it down.
My only suggestion is buy more than you think you need because they are way off on coverage, otherwise follow the directions on the box.

We used to always use Kemiko stains and they came out excellent. After we would stain, we would use a 2-part epoxy designed for floors with a high gloss. We never had an issue with this or it being inconsistent

Keep that concrete clean, no spills on it or you will have ugly spots. We have stained concrete floors, plumbers ruined them,

If your wife wants epoxy its probably the metallic. I put some down in my new garage and used rokrez and it was easy if you follow instructions. It was a 100% solids epoxy so it has no smell like the typical garage floor epoxy.
