I’m sure you lived in fear of surprise attacks like Pearl Harbor or god forbid losing the war and an invasion of the United States. If you were a European citizen you basically had destruction and death all around you whether it was in site or not but you knew it was there and could be on your doorstep quickly. I think about how comfortable life overall is today and the absolute shock and sacrifice it would take for people to have to put up with that today. I’m not sure the American people could withstand it. It’s hard to imagine us all pulling the rope in the same direction like that to fight for liberty and our own survival.
If it did happen now, it sure would put all the insignificant things some are sniveling about out to pasture.
