Neko Case at Preservation Hall a few years ago. Her AND her band played 20+ songs then joined the house band for a number.

Pearl Jam at Tips in 92. They booked the date before TEN came out and then exploded .... insane scene. Also saw Green Day, Violent Femmes, Rage, Bad Brains and PJ Harvey there in those years before the HOB opened.

I saw Isbell at Luckenbach on the outdoor stage before he sobered up. There was a couple hundred people and a half-dozen chickens in attendance

This was the first one that came to mind for me. They aren’t exactly huge in the US, but I’m pretty sure the Varsity was the smallest venue on that tour and they had just headlined Glastonbury earlier in the year. Great show and great setlist.
