It's likely both. An enclosed, crowded area that for obvious reasons makes people want to get close together is not a "safe" place to be with what we know about SARS 2.0.

But there is definitely a lot of dishonesty going on by not examining the protests. The ages and timing are too coincidental for them to not have had an effect.
