The federal government has denied a request from Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz for federal funds to rebuild and repair fire damage from the unrest that followed George Floyd’s death.
The Minneapolis Star Tribune reported that Walz’s spokesman Teddy Tschann confirmed that the request for federal aid was denied, saying the governor is “disappointed.”
Walz had asked President Donald Trump on July 2 to declare a “major disaster” in a request to the Federal Emergency Management Agency because of extensive damage to public infrastructure following the death of Floyd on May 25 after a white Minneapolis police officer pressed his knee against the handcuffed Black man’s neck for nearly eight minutes. Four since-fired officers have been charged in the case.

Good, this was the only thing I wanted Trump to do regarding these riots.

They stood back and watched it happen. Why the hell should taxpayers pay for their malfeasance in office?

Unfortunately it might not help him in Minnesota.

Sits back and allows his city to be destroyed, while preventing Fed Gov from restoring order, then expects Feds to pay.
Progressive thinking.
Progressive thinking.

If Walz actually acted like a governor and fought for his state instead of acting like a huge pussy, this wouldn’t have been an issue and he would’ve likely receive some funds. Trump would like to win Minnesota and it would be great to see a better partnership between state and federal. Unfortunately, these blue states are just messed up in the head.

You can't stop a flood, hurricane or tornadoes, but you can arrest a criminal. Maybe they should enforce their laws next time.

Maybe, maybe not. I am sure there are a lot of angry people in Minnesota, not at Trump, but at the incompetent state and city politicians. They might be happy that Trump told them no.
Now, they need to elect better local leaders.

Amen to that.

Minnesota elected Al Frankenstein and Ilhan Omar. Trump wasn’t winning there regardless.

Franken needed a couple trunk loads of "found" votes and Omar is the rep for Little Mogadishu.
He has a very good shot of winning MN as he was close in 16.

Waltz: “Hey, my supporters burned down my state and I allowed it. Will you pay for the damages?
Trump: “frick off.”
