On June 21, LA had 589 Covid 19 patients in hospitals. On July 11, we have 1182 Covid 19 patients in hospitals. We have had 302 more deaths from Covid 19 during that same time period.

So? Why not shut everything completely down then?

Then stay your pansy arse home. Lock yourself in your house. It's called personal responsibility and risk you fool. No politician should have the power we have given state governors.

All cause mortality in the United States has been below expected numbers since June 13th and declining. Even taking into account fewer traffic fatalities (things have been much more open, so how much impact that is remains questionable), seems like the recent national numbers are puffery, double counting, just cooking the books (even I concede they're only doing this for the money, the books are cooked nonetheless, are they not), so I'm just concerned about the agenda of those pushing panic here.

Hospital utilization is an issue, of course, but a State of 4 million can handle 1000 "more" folks in hospitals than are norm. This isn't even a net number because people are putting off medical treatment (yet ANOTHER cost and risk by Covid panic). And, we've had plenty of time to prepare over the 4 months. I almost laughed out loud when JBE mentioned "ventilators", using talking points almost 90 days out of date.

We have so many excess ventilators, as a nation, we can fill an Olympic sized pool with them.

And masks, as they are currently being mandated and worn are not only no protection from the disease, at all, they're counterproductive.

Silly virtue signalling would be bad enough if useless. When it is counterproductive, it is much worse.

Numbers are false. The largest hospital Corp in Louisiana had 78 COVID 19 patients on the June date you are quoting. They have been taking the transfers from around the state to fill their RICU and had difficulty filling. Admittedly that number has risen to north of 150 in the time period but it’s not even close to what you are quoting.

When Covid peaked in the first 2 weeks of April we had 1600 total COVID patients in the state. We are not even close to that.

And there were 370 deaths for the previous 20 days from May 21 to June 10.
