That is good to hear.

Many movies that are based on a great story/concept are ruined when they waste time trying to get us to know and care for the characters.
yea i watched it last night and though, as a war movie, it was great.

Just finished it and enjoyed it. Watching these movies makes me appreciate the WWII generation more and more. It also makes me realize that we’ll probably never see a generation willing to make that type of sacrifice again.

Tom Hanks was good, even if he is a pedo.

Just finished watching it with my old man. Pretty much non-stop action. It must have been frustrating as hell to be a convoy screen Captain and seeing those u-boat bastards pick off ships one by one. We enjoyed it. Might watch it a second time in a few weeks to try and catch anything I might have missed in the naval lingo. Probably enjoyed it a little more than we otherwise would because a lot of it was filmed on the Kidd. Not great by any stretch of the imagination but a solid flick.

I imagine a decent amount of this was filmed in Baton Rouge on the Kidd.

Correct and I did some prop work for the production company. Didn't see anything while watching the movie.

Everything being shoot from the rookie
Captain's point of view was boring.

This felt entirely like a cash grab by the studio and Hanks. It seems like a very short shooting timeline (limited sets and nothing outside of LA) and lots of CGI.
Hanks basically played a mix of several previous characters and was completely underwhelming as the god-fearing captain.

What happened to Greywolf? Was that the last sub sunk by the plane?

This movie suffers from never letting up on the action. If you never have a number of quiet parts mixed in for character development etc you dont really appreciate the action. You have to build. It was just going from one crisis to another every second.

Good movie though but couldve been way better.
