What about the poor and gifted? Those children haven’t gotten educational justice in some time.

Way back when teachers gave a damn, the poor and gifted would be noticed by teachers and encouraged. Whether making sure the kid could get a summer non-menial job or making sure the kid could afford textbooks, etc., teachers could make it happen.

this happened in my small town, the one bright child of a family of six was known to have a future. His older sister was in my home room, and she just wasn't all there.
