After seeing that Vince Young and Kevin Durant's number are being retired at Texas(why I don't know), I wondered if LSU did this other than in basketball of course. If they don't, whose number would you retire?

I think LSU requires people to graduate to have their number retired, other than Wally of course. So some that you may think are worthy aren't eligible

we dont' need to start retiring everyone's numbers like these other dumb arse schools.

I mean really, UVA retired Chris Long's number WHILE HE WAS STILL ON THE TEAM!!! WTF?

Kevin Durant getting his college number retired is a slap in the face to every student athlete that has ever dressed out for the UT basketball team. I think it should be a requirement to graduate for this sort of COLLEGE achievement.

Poorly worded, but that's what I was saying.

No and no. I like them both. Both were superb college players, but neither one brought what should be required to to get a number retired. Billy Cannon, Pete Maravich and maybe Shaq. I think Bob Petits and Ben McDonalds are retired, but don't think they should be.

Wally's is retired for a different reason. It's based on emotion, but I'm definately o.k. with that one.

I wouldn't mind seeing some name placards around TS like the Cowboys do. At least twice a game they come back from commercial on one of those names and talk about the player for a minute. It would be really cool. I've noticed that they do that on TV with games at the PMAC sometimes

I agree with the Ben McDonald part, but Pettit got LSU to it's first Final Four. He's also in the Basketball HOF and NBA top 50 of all time.

McD gave up a home run in the CWS that I will never forget. Had a few cups of coffee in the bigs. JMO.

Kevin Faulk gave 4 years of his heart and sole to the LSU program and fans. He is also the all time SEC yards from scrimmage leader. Thinking of all the great athletes who have played in this league, that's a 'damn strong' achievement. I would vote yes to retire #3.

Ben McDonald won the Golden Spikes award which is the Heisman for college baseball so I believe he should have his number retired. Also Ben's number 19 was also the number of Robbie Smith a guy who played on Skip first team who later became a Florida State Trooper who died in the line of duty.
I also believe Todd Walker should have his number retired, he is the best player in LSU baseball history.
