Watched Batman v Superman again last night and I thoroughly enjoyed it...

It was about the 3rd or 4th time. I know what the consensus is here about the movie, but I really enjoyed it last night.
Batman and Lex has the same mindset that Superman has to die, but Lex was a little more obsessed with it. Lex pins Supes against Batman so Batman will be out of the way, but still has Doomsday to kill Supes. However, it worked out for Supes and Batman.
Sure, there were some “WTF” moments in the writing like the “Martha” scene, but I can let it go now. It comes across as if it was written by a rookie writer. However, it’s now officially a guilty pleasure movie.

I've never given the director's cut a try. Does it really polish this turd?

That’s the one I watched last night. Maybe that’s why I thought it was better.

Nobody is commonly named Martha IRL. Much less 2 that happen to be the parents of superheroes.
And they should've given the role of Lex to Michael Rosenbaum. Allowed him to actually be a Lex without the CW's teen writing and censorship.

Even accounting for the movie being set in current times the name would not have been uncommon for women who were were in age range of Martha Kent and Martha Wayne.

I know four off the top of my head. Two from high school, one from college, and one through work. If I knew all the parents and siblings of everyone I've met I'd probably know quite a few more. Just b/c it's no longer a popular name doesn't mean it wasn't 50-60 years ago. Martha Kent in her mid to late 50s in BvS and w/how much older Bruce is than Clark we know that Martha Wayne would have likely been somewhere in her 60s if she was alive. Martha was a still a fairly common for parents to name their daughters in the 50s and 60s thus two Marthas of that age is not something that should be all that surprising. It was never the OH shite moment Snyder, Chris Terrio, and David S. Goyer thought it was when they wrote and shot it.

I can understand when they wrote it, but it's not only a gimmick plot point I legit know 0 Marthas lol.
I'm from the 80s and even grew up in an evangelical louisiana church and cant think of 1 I ever met. And there probably were, it's just not memorable.
Story could've had better moments of drama imo

It’s fricking retarded, because adopted mother or not, in a moment of physical and emotional pain, Supes isn’t screaming out “MARTHA” at Batman. GTFO. And that’s just one reason why. Hilarious execution of the scene being another.

For frick’s sake, let’s just rename Clark and Bruce “Jaiden and Brooklyn” so your suspension of disbelief doesn’t have to be stretched to include literary characters from previous decades.
“Sherlock? frick that. Name him Bob and then I’ll watch your show.

You missed the point of lazy storytelling. Plus Clark and Bruce arent the same name...but in the same vein, too bad the Hulk isnt DC so him and batman could be best friends

I'm one of the biggest fans of BvS on here. I liked it. Does it have some weak points? Sure. Cut out some of the dream sequences. The stunt casting of Lex Luthor misfired.
But, above all, comic movies are visual experiences and Snyder nails that. Affleck is a great Batman, finally. Cavill was born to play Superman and we get to see both in great action.

I didn’t miss it. You made Martha being an outdated name a part of your point. Damn them for a weak plot point to unify the characters, but don’t pretend that both women being named Karen would’ve made the moment so much better.

You must not read a lot of comics. Once the younger writers took over in the 70’s, any character with the same last name seemed to become related. If they had kept Batman’s mother as Martha they would’ve done something with that similarity for sure. They changed her to Mary back when they wanted characters to remain more unique.

Affleck’s Batman was easily the most intimidating looking of all the live action Batmans. I could actually believe he could break someone in half
Not the best suit though

Ultimate Edition is a much better film. Not great, but not the shitshow it was.
Gives me some hope for Snyder Cut
