To be fair...the masks we are supposed to wear are NOT to protect US...it is to keep us from giving it to OTHERS.
Keeps droplets from spewing out.
So, there is a major difference.
It is also like when my friends used to complain about getting an X-Ray at the dentist. Hygienist would say it is safe...but, leave the room. Well, you are getting ONE x-ray and she is giving them all day long. No real comparison
ETA: I am not telling anyone what to do or wear. Just addressing the differences in concept

The masks people are wearing to stop the spread of the Covid is akin to...
Putting up a chain link fence around your property to keep mosquitos out.

Serious question. Where is the evidence that cloth is an effective barrier against virus particles?

I keep having to remind myself that this forum is not just for people who went to (and hopefully graduated from)SEC schools. Obviously, there are some high school dropouts posting here, too.

Some of the most ignorant people I know have post-graduate degrees and some of the most successful people I know have only HS degrees. Not sure what your point is.

Finally got mine in the mail yesterday. Can't wait to be asked to go back to my truck to get my mask.

It's not even an effective barrier to water droplets much less microscopic virus particles

That article is wrong. 0.3 microns are used to test respirators because they are the most penetrating particle. Particles smaller than 0.3 microns are captured more efficiently by diffusion and electrostatic attraction.
