How was your tone when you use to play? I bought a used egnater rebel from a local guitarist from a cover band about 2-3 years ago. I’ve yet to find a good tone I like. Now since I’m starting to get into pedals I’m lost even more.

I bought it for my first tube amp because it was at a good price. So it might not be exactly the style I like, but I can’t find a good tone with it.

This was my first tube. I am kind of "meh" on it, but I don't feel like trying to sell this one and with a baby on the way I don't feel like dropping another $600 for a new amp.

It was great for what we were doing when I bought it (late 70ish rock music), but now trying to do more range of music its kind of muddy. Egnater amps seem kind of strange on how they suggest you EQ everything. A lot of it is master volume over 3:00, gain around 8:00, bump the bass, scoop mids and have treble around 3:00. Here are their preset suggestions that may help. LINK

There seem to be a huge range of opinions on the Egnater amps. I like to run my amp settings on the more clean style and use my ODs to dirty it up. I also have an Xotic EP booster that I love. It helps saturate a lot of the tones that the amp seems to lack.
