The last time Pelini was the DC LSU lost two games, one of which was a disaster that nearly cost LSU a shot at the title. That was the game that 6-6 Arkansas put up 50 on LSU, in Tiger Stadium.
The defense gave up 20 PPG that season. Hopefully he's gotten better.

LSU finished #3 in each of Pelini's 3 years with LSU as DC in Yards Allowed Per Game.

We can throw in the numbers with Chavis for some more perspective.
During 6 years with Chavis as DC, LSU finished #27, #12, #2, #8, #15, and #9.
That averages to 12.2 with Chavis.
The average with Aranda is 19.8.
