The problem is that they will say this culture is the fault of everyone else.

It is simply the go to play for them.

I went to a top tier high school in Louisiana. Had a black friend that was graduating and wanted to go out of state to another much higher rated SEC school. The counselor (a black woman) told her “no, just apply to southern or something similar. It’s for your own good. You won’t make it at that school.” Thankfully my friend ignored her, put in all the work and went to that school with loans and pell grants.

She’s a legit lawyer now, and it pissed me off that the same counselor would never have said such a thing to an equivalent Asian student.
