I’m looking to purchase a gun online but the shop I usually use is not listed as an approved FFL for this company.

Should I notify the FFL it’s going to ship to (I have never walked in) before purchasing or will they just contact me when it comes in?

The shop just has to send in a copy of their FFL to the website you're ordering from. Get this squared away before you purchase though.

Call your FFL and tell them what’s up. Speeds things along

Just give them a call and ask, then they'll know it's for you and know to expect it.

It's always a good idea to call the FFL before you place the order, just so it's on their radar. The seller will have to contact the FFL to get the information they need to release the firearm for shipping. If your FFL isn't aware that you are trying to have a firearm transferred, it may introduce confusion and unnecessary delays.

A quick phone call with your LGS takes care of this.
