Recently had this discussion with some of my kids. They realize that what they have and who we are as a family isn't because they're white. It's because their parents worked their asses off for 27 years providing for them and making sure they were raised with morals and confidence. To think they are who they are, or have the opportunities they have, because they are white is a slap in my face.

The privilege word is disrespectful, period. With that said, I agree that black kids do have some hurdles that white kids typically don't. They way police approach them if pulling them over, store owners watching them for theft, etc. Those things really do exist unfortunately. I don't think white people are privileged because they don't have to deal with that as much. That's what should be considered normal, not privileged. Blacks deserve to have that same level of normalcy.

I agree wholeheartedly.

Some of these black movements need better marketing folks - BLM, Defund the Police, white privilege, etc are pretty divisive slogans.

I'm putting one through graduate school & another in undergrad right now, I put them through private school because our local public schools suck.

I've worked my arse off to provide for my family, nothing was given to me by someone else and it damn sure had nothing to do with my being white. I taught them to have character, a strong work ethic, education and ownership for your actions.

I will never feel guilt for working hard to provide for my family.

Teach my kids about what?

Nevermind the fact that I grew up poor af in a trailer park and did what I had to do and MAKE THE RIGHT PERSONAL DECISIONS to change my way of living.

There’s NO ONE in this country, with the right personal decisions, can’t pull themselves out of whatever shitty situation they’re in

Because historically, the police are accustom to having to deal with them resisting arrest. I bet, if starting today, they 100% stopped resisting arrest, within a year, they would be treated differently by the police.
