Manning is just a Soph. and 2023 is a looooong way away, anything can happen with CFB coaching staffs. I don't expect a commitment until the start of his Sr. year.

FYI, Peyton made it clear that he did not want to play in his father's shadow, and he did not want to play against Ole Miss. Peyton was likely going to sign with Michigan; however, he changed his mind after Cam Cameron left for the Redskins. Cutcliffe and Fulmer convinced Manning he would compete for the starting QB as a Freshman. Peyton announced his decision to sign with Tennessee on 1/25/94 (1 week before NSD) sending Ole Miss fans into a tizzy.

I don't recall them being in it, though it was a long time ago and recruiting wasn't as big as it is now. I have heard Virginia was a strong contender but it seemed by the time he committed aside from Tennessee, Stanford and maybe Florida were the 2 most likely.
