I like the way safety is shaping up for 2021. Plus we already have two top safeties and a corner for 2022. I like seven safeties and 7 cb.
2021 defensive backs
S
Todd Harris 6-1 190 sr
Dwight McGlothern 6-1 185 so
----Khari Gee 6-1 195 fr
----add 1 (Sage Ryan)
Maurice Hampton 6-0 210 jr
Jordan Toles 6-0 195 so
----Dakota Mitchell 5-11 185 fr
CB
Cordele Flott 6-1 165 jr
Elias Ricks 6-2 185 so
Raydarious Jones 6-1 170 so
----add 1
Derek Stingley 6-1 200 jr
Jay Ward 6-1 175 jr
----add 1

What happens if Harris goes pro? And McGlothern stays at CB?
Pretty thin.

First, Safeties are very useful on special teams.
Two, who says that Harris won't go pro?
Three, I would want three deep in a nickel formation (which we will run about 75% of the time). You have to allow for injuries and developing players who are not yet ready. What you show there is one injury from putting a true freshman in the game. Not everyone is Stingley.
The real problem was the safety that flipped to Clemson on signing day and Kevin Joeseph who transferred out and missed out on a ring. Those guys would have filled in the depth chart very well.
