how are the Florida fans? Do they have good tailgating and are there some decent places to go out without getting mugged?

I live in Jacksonville and from my past few experiences in Gainesville, it can suck. Overall worth the trip, but be careful, they can be jerks. Strip of bars right off of campus aren't too bad. If we win, we usually take over the Swamp.

If its anything like that last time I went, the cops are Barney Fife's with an attitude! Make sure you know where you can drink or you will get a ticket for open container. Either you can drink on the grass and not on the concrete or vice versa. Find out which or you will be paying a fine.

LSU fans took over the swamp the night before the game two years ago...wasnt even after the game.

Florida fans are a bunch of arrogant poser pussies that talk a bunch of smack but shut up if you just get in their face once. That they would let one of their own 'local famous' bars get overrun like this the night before a game just shows you...you think this would EVER happen at the Chimes or Walk-ons the night before a big LSU home game?

I went in 2006; the worst we got was that I was called a "****" by a middle-aged man for wearing purple and gold baseball socks, and their student section started chanting "Tulane rejects" and jingling their keys in our faces towards the end of the game. Then we got gator chomped as we were driving towards the interstate leaving Gainesville.

I have a pretty thick skin for that kind of thing (most Tiger fans can dish it out too) but I was still kind of taken aback being on the receiving end of it. Losing didn't help.

I noticed though that they only started talking their smack after they knew they were going to win the game (how convenient)...as if they were afraid to say or do anything before the game (except for the idiot Florida fan that decided to burn and LSU t-shirt in the middle of University Avenue).

Its called 'The Swamp', and its right on the corner of University and 17th across from the Smathers Library.

I went a few years back. I was really disappointed in their tailgate scene. I never really found a large open spot full of tailgating, we just found parking on locals' yards. We kept getting th chomp but that was about it. Enjoyed seeing a game in the Swamp but the tailgate was kind of lame.

i will say, uf is horrible at tailgating and don't expect free food like at a tiger home game. it's just not really part of the culture.

we'll buy you a beer after the game so you can drown your sorrows though.
