A Minneapolis jury will probably convict. That cop’s best bet will probably be a plea bargain but I doubt the DA will offer one because they will want to avoid controversy.

Does not have to have a jury trial. He can have it solely be a judge who hears the case and makes a ruling based purely on law (theoretically anyway, we all know how the wrong judge can rule on "feels").

Not a chance UNLESS the DA were to strongly believe that his/her case is sketchy. Even in such a scenario, DA would likely prefer to role the dice and lose than to elect to take the sure thing in a plea arrangement but have zero chance of the public understanding the necessity of that action. Which the public wouldn't.
