Learned important lesson this afternoon. Went out to make a few casts at Shearon Harris just outside of Raleigh and left my net in the garage. Had one between 7-8 pounds at the boat and she broke off as I tried to lip her. Touched her tail before she swam off. Lost my favorite crank bait and just sat there sighing.

Oh well, next time the net will be in the boat. Hope everyone has a great weekend.

Sucks a the time but thats the thing I love best about fishing. So many incredible things seen on the water that don't get documented or make back to land.

I never bring a net in the yak. Have lost a few good fish but try to bring minimal gear. One day it will really bite me

It only takes one time. It's a sick sick feeling. Unbelievable. Sucks and I hate it for you.

They are always bigger when they get away.

So it was about 3.5 or 4.0 /

I've had to remove enough treble hooks out of my hand over the years...
I always use a net when fishing with trebles now...
jerk baits and crank baits...
