As an Iraq War Veteran myself, Memorial Day weekend is a mixed bag for me. I get people who call me or text me and say "Happy Memorial Day, thank you for your service" type of messages. I don't get mad and politely thank them, but its truly remarkable how many people don't understand the difference between Memorial Day and Veterans Day. On a somber note, Memorial Day is not a particularly fun day for me as it's the day that I reflect on two of the biggest heroes i ever served with that were KIA in Iraq.
