What the hell ever happened to Mealey? One day with Green Bay next he gone. Didn’t really do much diggin so forgive me just remember him falling off the map and was a fan of him being a St Charles Parish boy and all.

04 with a healthy alley Broussard, relegated future 1st rd pick joe Addai to 2nd team, with Justin Vincent coming off his phenomenal freshman season
Except that JV was terrible in 04.
Thanks Bogie’s
05 could have been something with JV being in better shape and Addai coming into his own had Alley not gone down in fall camp. Alley was going to wreck shite

Agreed! Second Place is 1908 National Championship Team
Doc Fenton was at QB and the dual threat of Fenton and Lally was unstoppable.
Three back set was:
Mike Lally (RHB) 14 TDs
Clarence Smith (LHB) 8 TDs
Bob Smith (FB) 7 TDs
My grandpa Ryan was the biggest halfback and he played backup (3 TDs)

Robinson was not a starter as a sophomore in 1957.
Red Brodnax was the starting RHB in '57. He was converted to FB in the spring of 1958.
He was LSU's leading rusher in 1956 as a sophomore, and the team's MVP and the SEC's best blocker in 1958. Also won a national award for Sportsmanship in 1958.
I read about the 1958 team in a book called the Perfect Season.

And Eric Martin and Herman Fontenot were RB's in the previous recruiting class. They both got moved to WR when Dalton and James arrived on campus. Fontenot had a 6 year NFL career and he even saw significant action at RB even though he was primarily a WR.

Fantastic team - you wonder how they only finished 5-5.
However, J.W. Brodnax got more playing time at HB than Johnny Robinson that season (Brodnax was switched to FB for the 58 season). Still an impressive backfield whether Brodnax or Robinson at HB.

Check out the rushing numbers of the '81 team.
Alan Risher 117 - (-22)
Eric Martin 78 - 290
Jesse Myles 72 - 292
Lester Dunn 56 - 219
Gene Lang 55 - 227

I was there. That offense sucked. Risher was a mediocre QB and the WR's were even worse than the RB's. We were all amazed when Orlando McDaniel was drafted in the 2nd round. He was a track guy but not much of a football player. The guy played in 3 NFL games in one season and was done after that. Stovall brought in Mack Brown in '82 and the offense was much improved.

I always heard that justin Vincent came back after winning the national championship very overweight and out of shape...saban was pissed at him and the next three years he lived in saban"s dog house.
It's a shame he went from mvp to three years of special teams
It's a shame because he is a nice guy..
