5 gallon batches seem to be the standard. If you do BIAB, you will most likely need a larger volume kettle to make up for the water needed from grain absorption/boil off. I had a 10 gallon but switched to a 15 gallon because I would get close to the top of the 10 gallon with certain recipes. TheEstimator helped me enter one of the homebrew competitions last year and I did okay I guess. I would like to enter more but I work a lot.

That’s the expert. His beer fricks OT 10s. Is he trying to open up a brewery? I don’t see him posting on here as much as he used to.
