AEW Double or Nothing | 7:00 PM | Buy-In Preshow: 6:00 PM | PPV/BR Live

Since TheeRealCarolina continues to disrespect AEW... I've decided to start this thread.
Wednesday night's episode of Dynamite, while a very good show on TV, was very unfortunate when it came to the injury bug... esp. when you consider said show was less than a week from 1 of the 2 biggest PPVs of the year for the company
Rey Fenix "hard way'ed" himself with that dive during his match against Orange Cassidy where he came up short and landed straight on his back on the concrete. AEW has pulled Fenix from tonight's Casino Ladder Match but say he is not expected to miss "significant time"
The Young Bucks did the flying cross body blocks onto the Inner Circle from the railing at TIAA Bank Stadium to mark their return to action from quarantine, except Matt ended up injuring a rib in the process, something that's just considered a freak incident and thus no one's "fault", and at least at one point the rib was feared to be broken. AEW hasn't removed him from tonight's match yet, so hopefully he can power through
The biggest injury though belongs to Dr. Britt Baker, DMD. When Kris Statlander & Hikaru Shida picked up Nyla Rose during that tag team match Wednesday and Death Valley Bombed Rose onto Baker in the corner, the majority of Rose's manly weight came down onto 1 of Baker's knees and it is feared that Baker tore an ACL and will be out for up to a year. A really terrible injury for the person who undeniably has the best character in the AEW Women's Division and would've probably won the AEW Women's Championship very soon. She was definitely expected to go over Statlander in tonight's match, but obviously she is now out of that match. It's a doubly bad injury because it will no doubt also effect her dentistry business due to the impending surgery and rehab she will have to go through. Baker is supposed to appear on the show tonight to give a 1st hand update on the injury.
To Nyla Rose's credit, s/he realized something was terribly wrong immediately, dragged Baker across the ring to the correct corner and tagged into the match, allowing AEW doctors to immediately tend to Baker's injury and get Baker out of any potential danger of accidental further injury from the match.
Unfortunately, that's not all the bad news we'll cover here... but let's get to the show shall we.
AEW Double or Nothing comes from the mostly empty Daily's Place in Jacksonville, Fla., with the "Stadium Stampede Match" taking place inside the attached TIAA Bank Stadium, home of the NFL's Jacksonville Jaguars... hey look... AEW beat WWE to a NFL stadium this year
Tonight's Card:
AEW World Championship Match
Jon Moxley (c) vs. "The Exalted One" Mr. Brodie Lee
Stadium Stampede Match - No Disqualifications, No Countouts, Falls Count Anywhere Inside TIAA Bank Stadium
Inner Circle (Chris Jericho, "The Spanish God" Sammy Guevara, Santana, Ortiz, Jake Hager) vs. The Elite (Kenny Omega, "Hangman" Adam Page, Nick Jackson, Matt Jackson, "Broken" Matt Hardy)
AEW TNT Championship Tournament Finals to crown the inaugural champion (Belt to be presented by "Iron" Mike Tyson)
"The American Nightmare" Cody Rhodes vs. "The Murderhawk Monster" Lance Archer
No Disqualification, No Countout Match for the AEW Women's Championship
Nyla Rose (c) vs. Hikaru Shida
"The Chairman of AEW" Shawn Spears vs. "The Natural" Dustin Rhodes
Kris Statlander vs. Penelope Ford
Maxwell Jacob Friedman vs. Jungle Boy
Casino Ladder Match for a Future AEW World Championship Opportunity
Darby Allin vs. "Boom Boom" Colt Cabana vs. Orange Cassidy vs. "The Bad Boy" Joey Janela vs. Scorpio Sky vs. "Superbad" Kip Sabian vs. Frankie Kazarian vs. Luchasaurus vs. Mystery Opponent
(2 men start match - new combatant enters ring every 90 seconds - at any time someone can grab the briefcase to win the match)
Buy-In Show Match to determine a #1 Contender for the AEW World Tag Team Championship
Private Party (Isiah Cassidy & Marq Quen) vs. Best Friends ("Kentucky Gentleman" Chuck Taylor & Trent Beretta)
Since Joshi wrestling is a big part of AEW... we have to note the passing of 22 year old Joshi wrestler Hana Kimura... of the Japanese promotion Stardom
Something had apparently happened on the way to the Tokyo Dome show that was public knowledge and she found herself on the end of intense cyber-bullying which appears to have led her to commit suicide. A terrible story all around

AEW and the wrestling community mourn the passing of Hana Kimura. May she Rest In Peace, and our thoughts are with her family, her friends, and her fans.
Something had apparently happened on the way to the Tokyo Dome show that was public knowledge and she found herself on the end of intense cyber-bullying which appears to have led her to commit suicide. A terrible story all around

That’s terrible about Baker. She was the only one in the women’s division that that I had any interest in. Tony has to be devastated.

Going pick up some white claws and cheering on Joey Janela!
Posted on 5/23/20 at 2:10 pm to rt3
Jelly Janela is replacing Fenix in the ladder match. Penelope Ford replaces Dr Brit against Kris Statlander. Matt Jackson also bruised a rib on Dynamite but it's not bad enough to miss the ppv. Supposedly the Stadium Stampede match was filmed yesterday so I'm expecting a more cinematic presentation like the MITB match from Titan Tower.
Should be some surprises tonight. Maybe The Revolt attacks the Bucks in the Stampede match.

We placing bets on who the "mystery wrestler" is in the Casino Ladder Match?
Gotta be a recently "future endeavor'ed" from WWE, right?
ETA: The former Revival in WWE have been sent a cease & desist of using "The Revolt" as a team name by an independent wrestling team of the same name... they may just go by "FTR"

It would be a huge coup if Drew Gulak showed up as the "mystery opponent"

The recently fired WWE guys are all still under 90 day no compete clauses so they can't show up anywhere until July. Gulak is possible but since they haven't really built it up I expect it to be someone already on the roster.

I think it surprised everyone that Gulak hit the wrestling free agent market
Wouldn't give a lot of time to negotiate a contract with Gulak while also promoting a high-caliber "mystery opponent" for the ladder match

Should be on YouTube & BR Live & PPV

Oh thank goodness. I was about to get ready to start this thread soon. Rt3 to the rescue!
I'll pick winners since it will help keep me interested:
Moxley
The Elite
Rhodes
The Tranny
Spears
Statlander
MJF
Darby Allin
Best Friends
quote:I always tune out during Nyla Rose matches but this would really suck. Baker was about the only thing interesting in the AEW Women's Division, which is basically a joke since it has a man as it's champion. It would be better if it was a joke like Santina Marella but, no, we're supposed to take it seriously.
The biggest injury though belongs to Dr. Britt Baker

Tony has to be devastated.

back-to-back SCU entrances... drew 1 & 2

so it's 2 minutes... not 90 seconds until new entrants join the battle
ETA: and it's a poker chip... not a briefcase to be fetched atop the ring

Rt3!!!!!
My first illegal stream went down. I found another one but I doubt I'll be able to find a third. I'm counting on you to do play-by-play if it goes down.
