We shouldn't even claim our 58 title. Anything before the BCS era is useless.

There is a great picture of the 1908 team in one of the New Orleans papers, it is a wide angle shot of the all the main players and back ups on the field in uniform ready to play I think Texas A&M.
This photograph is taken by the person that took all the baseball photographs from 1905-1918 range in N.O., it is easy to find those photographs, someone out there has to have a copy of that team picture.
That would make a nice T-shirt for the 1908 team.

What? That is blasphemy. Should it not be the more the merrier when it comes to National Championships in football. Hell I’d claim a mythical national championship in table tennis if I could. But turning down a championship on an undefeated season. Just stupid.

One of Fenton's favorite plays was the "tackle over tackle" play. In this play, Fenton faked a handoff to a back, then gave the ball to a tackle and led the blocking behind the other tackle
LSU should have run this play last year

There were 3 unbeatens that year. We lost to 3 loss Rice that year, and TCU who lost to 12-0 SMU.

Will they bring back the players to honor them at halftime this year?

Amazing that the greatest offense in college football history ever managed to score without its Heisman-winning qb having to ISO against an SEC linebacker

Doc Fenton's recruitment is a good story. It was between LSU and Mississippi State.
Starkville was dry. Baton Rouge had nickel beer. No contest!

This is ridiculous, they were the officially recognized Champions that year, zero controversy and until 2019 the most accomplished LSU team ever. You're an idiot, sorry

And remember the proximity to New Orleans.
In the postseason, there were Donnybrooks occurring widespread in New Orleans over the Grantland Rice tall tales about the 1908 LSU Team instigated by loathsome Tulane lowlifes.
My grandpa Pat Ryan from New Orleans had hosted several 1908 team members including Doc Fenton, and were involved in one such Donnybrook after Dixie Brewery held their Penney-a-beer fest (recently opened 1907) competing with Jax & Falstaff.
My grandpa Pat Ryan was said to be a man of iron, albeit a backup hb that was used to chop down defenders and finish off long drives when things were slowing down or stalling.
Minding their business and celebrating a 10-0 season in New Orleans with LSU supporters, they faced down a larger Tulane crowd that had gathered to molest them on Tulane Ave where Dixie Brewery was.
LSU was guilty of being on THEIR TULAME Avenue
LSU players & their supporters, outnumbered by those from Tulane, listened to insults for ABOUT TWO SECONDS as my Grandpa Pat Ryan would say later. Pat Ryan charged into the biggest one first and knocked him cold and flatter than a pancake and it was on!
Dixie Brewery called police who got there too late for Tulane and they found a pile of butt hurt, whipped and broken Tulane supporters with no one to arrest.
Our guys lit out in cars to another brewery and “howled the night away” as grandpa told.
Doc and his boy Tom made grandpa Ryan’s funeral and Doc relayed that night’s events and other funny stories to the laughter of the crowd gathered there to celebrate his life.
Penney-a-beer Dixie! What a hangover that musta been. And that Falstaff beer, Jesus! I’d rather drink out the Mississippi River
